International Women‘s Day

By

Today is International Women‘s Day! I think it should also be known as of women‘s health day. There are so many women in the workforce who are also caregivers, mothers, wives, sisters, etc., and performing many jobs all at the same time. Women need more support and I have met so many courageous women through all my years of work and friendship that I am in awe of! They need our support!

Some don‘t have time to care for themselves properly. We need a healthcare system that provides the care we need and the mindset to help with all of our needs. We need doctors who are trained in hormone replacement therapy and other women‘s services issues!

I was a floor nurse for over 10 years. Mostly in Women’s Services, working in Maternity, Mom/Baby, and women’s surgical. For a few years, I had insurance for healthcare and then after not being able to afford the monthly payments, gave it up. Not having healthcare insurance that I paid for mean‘t I was paying out of pocket for all and or any services. In a for-profit industry this is hard. So I gave up many of the normal yearly visits. I took charge of my health, researching perimenopause and then menopause. After talking to other nurses and doctors I worked with I decided to go for Bio-identical hormone replacement therapy. This was one of the best decisions of my life.

I highly recommend you read Kathy C. Maupin, MD‘s book The Secret Female Hormone, How Testosterone Replacement Can Change Your Life.

Knowledge is power and all women can have it. I challenge you today to give yourself more time, because you are worth it!
