I have written earlier about our adventure to France for half a year. Well, it has begun. Arriving into Germany yesterday afternoon was surreal. The biggest surprise was seeing a nurse that I worked with years ago on my flight over. What a nice surprise that was! 🙂 People here greet you with “Servus” which is a Bavarian and Austrian dialect word that can mean both “hello” and “bye”.
I have a son who lives in Munich and has for 15 years off and on. He works in the car industry, and is married and raising a son here by choice. They feel he will be getting a good start being bilingual and raised with the Germanic culture of community. I love coming to visit. Almost all the places he has lived here you can walk or cycle to shops, parks, and restaurants. If it is too far, then you can simply ride a bus or train which is usually just a walk down the sidewalk from their apartment.
Tomorrow we have a train ride from Munich to Paris to Agen where we will be staying. I look ahead to the ride, as I love train travel. It is so relaxing and nice to see the the countryside as it goes by.

After we arrive we will have to take care of a few details, like pick up a rental car. We use TURO which is like Air B n B for cars. My husband wanted an EV so it is another train ride to get it. The other thing will be finding out where the markets are and shops. France has many markets with fresh vegetables, meat, cheese and other foods many times during the week. I am excited to see our new home for the next few months and get to know our neighbors and community. Our landlady told us there is a vineyard just a few miles away. Will we be able to bring our own bottles to fill? Hopefully!
Tschuss!
