I thought it would be fun to write about what I have been reading this month. I will start out with my books. Most of the time I borrow books from my local library in Salida. This is the closest library. I have been thinking about opening up a little library for my small community in Garfield. First, I need a cabinet for my little library. Alternatively, a box with windows would work. This way, others can come and view what books are available to borrow. Then others in the community who love to read can always have a new book to borrow!
This month, the first book I read was the fictional book The Glass Forest. It is written by Colorado author Cynthia Swanson. This book is a fun read. It is a thriller set amongst the woods in Door County Wisconsin. If you like a book you never want to put down, this is it! She writes from two different times in history making it very interesting. I couldn’t guess the ending, it was fantastical.

The next book was The Mountain Between us by Charles Martin a Floridian author. It is a highly interesting fictional story about two people thrown together in a last minute flight that goes wrong. They must walk out from high mountains despite their injuries to save themselves. It is a story of courage, will, and how their lives merge together.
I am now reading Stanley Tucci’s latest book called What I Ate in One Year. It is extremely entertaining, as the man is. He has written journal style, what he ate for a year day by day. If you love Italian food, you will love it and Stan even adds some recipes in the book. It goes very well with his other book Taste. I am not yet finished and enjoy reading a few days nourishment (or not) each night before I sleep. You will also learn about his family and friendships with some very famous people.
“A book is a garden, an orchard, a storehouse, a party, a company by the way, a counselor, a multitude of counselors.” – Charles Baudelaire
Also reading Meditations for Mortals by Oliver Burkeman, a British author who used to write for the Guardian. This straightforward non-fiction provides helpful insights on how to be less stressed. It also shows you how to get more done and be nicer to yourself. This is something we can all use.
Next book is The Connection Cure by author Julia Hotz, an American author from New York. She writes this non-fiction book about our health and mental wellness from the perspective that everything is connected. I love it. Well written and the author is well mature despite her young age. Lots of great advice in there!
Last but not least is my audio book called Good Energy by Dr. Casey Means, a wonderful book if you are inclined in medical terminology and don’t mind lists of lab results. She wrote about how our metabolism can lead to life or disease. She has a lot of practical advice, especially the chapter of foods never to put in your mouth!
I am a hyper reader. I usually read four to five books at the same time. This often leads to an exhilarating mix of stories and ideas swirling in my mind. I also listen to audio books and podcasts, while I am working on a project or cooking. The combination of multitasking and indulging in literature makes my daily routine feel more vibrant and fulfilling. I also love to write, but I must admit that reading is my way of escape. What have you been reading and enjoyed? Thank you for reading my blog!
Viel Spaß beim Lesen!
