Garfield Colorado is in the middle of a polar vortex. It is -15 C/5 F. With the windchill it is much colder. It is colder than it is in TromsΓΈ Norway today. Of course, they are just getting out of their Polar Night period. This is the time between November 27 and January 15 when it is always dark. Darkness always heightens the freezing temperatures. We are very lucky here to have so many sunny days.

When it gets this cold it is best to stay indoors. I have been getting cold weather warnings all morning on my phone. I just glanced at the webcam at Monarch Mountain, our nearby ski resort. Very few are actually riding and skiing. I bet the bar is packed full! When I was a ski nurse there, I noticed something. During really cold days, there were times when the parking lot was full. However, hardly anyone was out skiing or riding the frigid lifts. Many people stayed inside my clinic to warm up. The rest were in the resort restaurants and bars. π
I haven’t seen anyone outside walking their pets either. It is truly a day to stay indoors. Watch a movie, make a soup, or cinnamon rolls (like I did!). These times I am thankful for electricity and the ability to even get some laundry done. I am also enjoying time to read my newest library find. It is from Author Edith Holden. The book is The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady.

Tomorrow it is supposed to be even colder. Then gradually it will warm up during the week. We have a few appointments so will be glad when it is not so frigid! I hope you are all staying warm wherever you live. I know it is not cold everywhere in the world!

Thank you for reading my blog! I appreciate all of you so much!
Agradecido! Dankbar! Reconnaissant! Grateful!
