Too close for comfort

By

This morning, a tragic event unfolded in Munich, Germany. A 24-year-old Afghan asylum seeker drove a Mini Cooper into a crowd during a labor union demonstration. At least 28 people were injured, including children. The suspect was known to authorities for previous theft and drug offenses. The police fired at the vehicle and arrested him at the scene.

AP News

My son works in the building in front of which this horrific incident occurred. He was riding his bike to work and, by a stroke of fate, missed the attack by only five minutes. Upon arriving, he witnessed emergency responders performing CPR on a child. Deeply shaken, he has been anxiously seeking updates on the child’s condition.

Reports indicate that among the injured, a two-year-old child is in critical condition.

Latest news & breaking headlines. As of now, there is no further information available about the child’s status.

We are living in unsettling times, and today’s events have brought that reality painfully close to home. The proximity of my son to such violence has left me profoundly shaken. I am grateful for his safety but deeply concerned for the victims, especially the young child fighting for their life. My heart goes out to all those affected by this senseless act.

When such disturbing things happen that close to those we love, there are no words, and a mother’s need to give her child a hug is also denied…but the love is transmitted nonetheless, and that in itself is healing and more powerful than personally sensed or perhaps, appreciated. On this day dedicated to love, may yours for him come through over the miles. 🌹
